Southwest Jutland Hospital has received hardware, software and training from MIRSK in one complete solution.

Southwest Jutland Hospital

Southwest Jutland Hospital has many physical locations and therefore had a need for a complete digital dictation solution. It was necessary not only to increase efficiency among doctors and secretaries, but also to allocate more time and focus for improving patient care.

The hospital consequently chose to implement MIRSK in all of their departments. The hospital achieved economies of scale as well as an easier and more structured workflow for secretaries because they did not have to wait for the doctors to come in with the (analog) dictation tapes. Instead the dictations could be seen in their inboxes immediately after the doctor had completed his dictation.

The solution included a complete installation of the MIRSK system, including licenses, hardware and training of super users, end users and IT administrators.

Besides the MIRSK solution, Southwest Jutland Hospital also chose to buy wireless headsets for the secretaries of the hospital. In this way, they could use both the MIRSK system and answer the phone!

Southwest Jutland Hospital has for years used traditional tape dictation for clinical documentation of patient records. Since the hospital (along with the rest of the region) chose to implement an electronic health record (EHR), it was therefore the perfect opportunity to implement MIRSK’s speech technology solutions.

The solution, which was implemented in 2011, was a complete and set solution from MIRSK, who as a main supplier provided:

• Hardware in the form of equipment for the users
• Server software
• Application software
• User establishment
• Special configuration of the operating environment
• Setting up the hardware
• Training several categories of users

Following the implementation of MIRSK’s solution throughout the Southwest Jutland Hospital, significant results were achieved:

The management, using an administrative tool, could get a full overview of their activities. The IT department should now deal with only one single solution and not several. The users could get a better-produced clinical documentation and an up-to-date patient journal, and the patients experienced a faster patient treatment.
